Character Survey (outdated) (Needs to be edited)

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
He's average height for a Japanese man his age. Exactly 5'8. For many characters, he would be considered short.

2. How old is he?
20. Legal drinking age in Japan.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He walks with a straight posture, because he feels like he might worry some people if he slouched. A man has to look his healthiest on the streets.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Not out of shape at all. He walks plenty distances each day, to work, to cram school, grocery shopping, and walking his dog. Seldom he'll walk for any other occasion, such as leisure activities. He doesn't exercise, so he's not exactly muscular, but he has a nice, slim body. Perhaps a little thinner, since he can't afford a lot of fancy foods.

He has no illnesses, but he might be at risk of developing insomnia.

He can't carry heavy objects or run very fast.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Clumsy. He can walk normally, since he walks a lot each day, but his personality can cause him to jump from being startled easily. He could probably knock over a few things.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He has a nice, slim body. He doesn't look bearably thin, and there's no problem of being overweight, so there's no trouble with his shape. His big eyes and narrow face could attract some people, too.

Unfortunately, he's a pretty modest guy, so he doesn't think he's anything special, and will reject any compliments on his looks (He'll reject compliments in general, but that's another story).

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
It has a yellowish, tannish tint, but it's a bit pale. Aside from daily routines which take a few hours each week, he studies and hangs out in his room more than outside, so he hasn't formed any tan.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
It's short, and a bit spiky in some areas. It's a trend for young males in Japan. The default icon of this account shows his hair very well.

It's a bit rough and/or stiff. He buys cheap drugstore shampoo to save on money. he's not all too interested in keeping his hair magnificently healthy.

9. What color are his eyes?
Brownish black.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Nothing special.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
His back and shoulders. He sits more than he stands, so he might develop some stiff muscles.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Lots of affordable casua clothes, such as overshirts (with smaller t-shirts or tanktops underneath), hoodie t-shirts, and other kinds of outfits that are common in Japan. He also has his work uniforms from several part time jobs. Also his jammies.

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
They are very nice and fit on him. They easily show his frame, for he's very meticulous about the size of clothing he gets.

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Nope. He works at some part time jobs, so his job clothes are required uniforms. Some of them are from the pet store and a konbini nearby.

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
It's definitely a past-puberty voice, but it's not deep and baritone.

This video should be similar to how deep his voice sounds.

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Softly, for he always feel like he's raising his voice and feels rude for doing so. He almost always hesitates. He likes to think before speaking.

His native language is Japanese, and when he speaks English, he has a thick accent. At times, he will slip Japanese into his English by accident, and then re-say it in English.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
As mentioned above, he speaks normally in Japanese, but when in English, he has a thick accent and sometimes slips Japanese into his English.

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Japanese, with a decent fluency, but he still hesitates and thinks about what he says.

And English, but with terrible fluency.

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
Yes, when he speaks in Japanese to someone who reveals not to udnerstand him, he'll switch to English. When he's speaking to someone in English who then reveals he can understand Japanese, Tsutomu will switch to Japanese.

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
It's not that he has to think about his words, it's that he believes that he has to. He always wants to make sure what he's about to say doesn't anger the other person.

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Very, very inarticulate. Common for a lot of Japanese citizens, he keeps a polite, reserved manner and never expresses his true feelings. If someone has done something wrong and apologizes. Tsutomu will appear to happily accept the apology, but deep inside, wishes to knee the other in the crotch.

This might change under extreme circumstances, such as if his father came back, or if someone had killed someone dear to him. He will show great emotion, then.

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Above average. Thanks to his studies, he's gained a lot of knowledge. But it's also because his studies have taken out most of his social life, therefor he's below average with street smarts.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Depends on the situation.

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
He tries to be more logical and practical.

4. What kind of education has the character had?
Japanese high school education, which is believed to be somewhat strict. Definitely more strict than American high school.

He is currently studying for entrance exams to college.

Nothing in particular. He knows a lot about Japanese history.

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert.

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Even tempered, though he may somehow experience mood swings in his mind. But he can keep an even head in public.

He's more cheerful than melancholy.

Very driven. He strives to work hard.

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He's very shy when meeting new people, but he still tries to socialize. hen speaking to a new person, or in a group, he is very timid.

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
React.

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Flight.

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He can make Japanese puns and he does appreciate jokes. He doesn't like pranks, however. he never watches Japanese prank shows, and feels bad about the victims. He believes he'll die of embarrassment if he was ever pranked in public TV. But his sense of humor is clean. Dirty jokes cause him to blush more than laugh.

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
He doesn't have anything diagnosed. He might be at risk for insomnia, but that's another story.

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His father left him when he was ten, due to divorce. Tsutomu grew up with his timid mother, and may have picked up a few traits from her.

When he failed his first college entry exam after graduating high school, he has developed a need to study till late at night to get into college.

14. What does he fear?
Failure. He also fears the loss of his mother, for she is his only family nearby. He has a few relatives in other areas of Japan, but he doesn't know them as well.

As for less serious notes, he fears spiders and horror movies.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
He and his mother live as lower-middleclass citizens. Tsutomu hopes to get into a good college, and get a nice job with a good pay to help him and his mother pay debts and better their living lives.

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he's a failure when it comes to tests. And also that he stays up late almost everyday.

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
He hates his father for leaving him and his mother. Since he left, his mother has been forced to work to barely get by. As for his mother, Tsutomu is kind of a mama's boy. He always calls his mother on updates of his life, and often invites her to his apartment.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
He has a cousin who lives in Osaka. His outgoing personality and loudmouth sometimes annoys Tsutomu, but he doesn't dislike him. Otherwise in his own family, he's an only child.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
His cousin lives with his uncle and aunt and is currently the male form of a Christmas Cake. He's 24, and his parents are nagging at him to find a girl and get married finally. Tsutomu finds him kind of annoying, but he still loves him. They are family, after all!

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
None in particular.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
He doesn't have any best friends, but there are memorable people in his time at school.

Fujiwaru Junko - A girl and Tsutomu's senior who was considered a sadist by her classmates because she loved to inflict pain on others. Unlike the others, Tsutomu found her daring nature to be admirable and followed her like a puppy. She had told him many times to leave her alone, but he grew on her. Currently she is 22, and is a sadistic boss in a company building. She sometimes visits Tsutomu at his jobs. Sometimes its to make fun of his failure, and sometimes because she just wants to talk to her old schoolmates.

Takahashi Sakuma - A bully "yanki" who graduated Tsutomu's high school when Tsutomu was just starting his freshman year. One time during 9th grade in middle school, he wanted to explore his new high school just a little out of excitement and curiosity. He ran into Sakuma and his gang at the school gym, picking on a young Freshman. Despite his timid nature, he stood up to them. It resulted in the victim escaping, and Sakuma picking on Tsutomu. At first it wasn't anything serious, but then they started beating him up. Scared, Tsutomu daringly punched Sakuma in the throat, causing him to have trouble breathing, but it wasn't strong enough to suffocate him right away. His friends panicked and ditched him. Alone with a slowly suffocating, Tsutomu called an ambulance, and even offered to help pay the bill. Sakuma didn't know why Tsutomu was helping him so much, since Sakuma had caused him so much trouble. After being in the hospital, and having needed to go under surgery, Sakuma had a new lease on life and changed his way. He is currently 25 and works as a kindergarten teacher. He doesn't speak much, for his throat tends to start hurting after a certain amount of talking. He's developed a crush on Tsutomu. He sometimes visits Tsutomu during his hours as a convenience store employee, buying candy for his kindergarten class.

More to come.

6. Does he have other close friends?
His dog, Renji. :|a

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He doesn't have any problems like bad temper that could cause people to dislike him, but he is shy at social situations. He does attract some kind of attention thanks to his personality. Some find it cute, especially weeaboos from foreign countries who vacation in Tokyo.

Family.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
100% single.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope, but he is a fuckbuddy with a few at The Love Hotel.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
He never really had a crush on anyone, but he does admire good-looking faces.

12. What does he look for in a romantic/sexual partner?
Romantic: He isn't pursuing any relationships (studies over love and all that), but he would love someone who's very experienced, for he believes they can teach him a little bit on not being so awkward.

Sexual: When it some to physical attraction, Tsutomu loves himself a good video game hero type. Some nice muscles, a bit of facial hair, especially on the chin, and a dangerous life (bonus points for scars). In a roleplay/costuem situation, he lvoes a man in traditional Japanese clothing. It's a huge turn on for him.

He's also interested in foreigners, especially Europeans.

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
Nope, but he might want some. Probably through adoption, since it's a bit impossible to have his own due to his orientation.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Not that he knows of.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
He is gay, but he hasn't outed it. In his society, it's not frowned upon as to cause hate crimes, etc, but it is somewhat socially unacceptable. That is the reason why he hides his orientation. Especially to his mother, who has countless times said "You will find a lovely wife one day".

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Again, studies and good job over romance. On the outside, he behaves as to show no interest in sex, for he feels kind of sleazy and perverted for oding so. On the inside, however, he loves sex. Usually at the Love Hotel, it's easier to seduce him than it is anywhere else, since he's at a sex-oriented place, and not out in public.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
He secretly likes men that are larger in size. The feeling of his body being completely enveloped in another arms gives him some sort of secure feeling.

Men with muscles and scars, like in video games.

Men in traditional Japanese clothing.

He's also a fan of handsome men with small beards. The feel of their beard on his skin feel nice, if not ticklish. Especially on his chest, stomach, and between his legs when receiving oral sex.

For any other kinks, refer to this page for his kinks and sex information.

He's turned off by people who are rude in bed, such as people who call him 'whore' or are pretty high of themselves in obnoxious ways.

He's not in poverty, but he's definitely in some financial stress, thanks to helping with his mother's bills, and debts with his own rent. Hes also in debt with the veterinary hospital for his dog, but he can't get rid of his dog. Renji is his best friend.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
