□ Name: Tsutomu Fujisawa
□ Series: Original character
□ Canon point: N/A
□ History: Tsutomu was born in Tokyo, Japan, to his parents Atsushi and Midori Fujisawa. As an only child who grew up in a modest apartment around the outskirts of the city area, he wasn't exactly the richest guy in the world, and so he grew up to have pretty low standards about life. He was happy about what he had, and didn't ask for much else, be it a fancy mp3 player, a phone, TV, etc. Considering his father worked long hours during the week, he was with his mother more often, so many of his manners, skills, and opinions formed from her. He was taught how to clean and a little bit of how to cook. He couldn't do much, since he was just a child, but he worked hard to help his parents anyway he could. His mother was very meticulous when it came to cleaning, so he learned to be a neat freak, just like his mother. Despite loving his mother, he also loved his father dearly. He was always hoping to see him when he came home, which wasn't often.
Atsushi kept his guitar from his amateur high school with him through his whole life, and still had it with him when Tsutomu was born. Every time he was able to see Tsutomu, he would try to teach him a bit from his guitar. He was always interested in classical music, so he'd try to teach Tsutomu guitar covers of many pieces. The one they worked on the most was the Turkish March. After a bit of playing, Tsutomu discovered he had a talent for the guitar. As they played together, Tsutomu's father became his hero, and Tsutomu aspired to be a musician, just like Atsushi was. However, Atsushi never fulfilled his dream, so he dreamed that Tsutomu would be able to fulfill it for him. Tsutomu practiced everyday from that point on.
When Tsutomu turned eight, a recession hit Tokyo, and his life started to get a lot more difficult. They had to cut down on a lot of necessities. Bills were piling up, and debts were needed to be paid. Tsutomu's father worked longer hours, and grew a lot more rough and ill-tempered. Many times when he came home, he refused to teach Tsutomu the guitar. Tsutomu then grew closer to his mother, who always tried to go on his side when the father got into a bad temper and started an argument. This kind of hell went on for two years, and it only got worse from there. One night, When Tsutomu was ten, Midori and Atsushi had a very terrible argument, mostly about financial stress and related things. Tsutomu wasn't really sure, for he couldn't understand much. But at that point, Atsushi snapped, and went to his room. About an hour later, Atsushi walked out with a briefcase in his hand, and headed out the door. Tsutomu and Midori just watched in horror as the man of the house left. Tsutomu screamed and cried, but Midori only silently stood. After a week of no sign of Atsushi, Midori filed some divorce papers. From that point on, Tsutomu grew mixed feelings for his father, mostly rage and hatred. His, and his father's, dreams of becoming a musician had been crushed. He didn't' want anything to do with the guitar anymore. What confused him most was that Atsushi didn't take his guitar with him, so it was left in the closet to collect dust.
Life was very difficult after that day. There was no father of the family, and Midori had to get a job. Since Tsutomu was taught how to clean and cook a bit by his mother, he took care of the housework while Midori searched for jobs. They lived in a small apartment with an affordable pay. Later on in high school, he became a bookworm. His mother had many views for Tsutomu's future, including becoming an office manager and finding a wife. Tsutomu grew to be very close to his mother, and he would do anything to make her happy. He even gave up his dreams of becoming a musician, in favor of a more practical career as a CEO of a company. But the musician inside him still haunts him to this day, nagging at him to pick up the guitar again. Unfortunately, her other dream of him finding a good wife was unable to be achieved, because after dating a few girls, but he realized he wasn't attracted to them in anything more than platonic. After he broke up with his last girlfriend, he noticed that there were a few boys in his class that he had an attraction to. Around that time he realized he was gay. At first he was in denial of it. He promised his mother he would find a good wife who will bear children for him. He keeps trying to find a good opportunity to tell her, but she'd always intervene with "You will find a good wife someday". To this day he is kind of secret about his orientation, because he would feel devastated for his mother if she ever found out.
When Graduation came, Midori was proud of her son, and bought him an Akita. He named it Orenji, due to his nearly-orange colored coat, but later on changed it to just Renji. Since then, Renji had become his best friend, and Tsutomu had formed a love for animals.
After graduation, he took a college entrance exam right away due to zealousness. He didn't study and ended up failing. Ever since then, he's been hitting the books and taking cram school to make sure he knows everything. Aside from cram school, Tsutomu has two jobs: one as an employee in a convenience store, the other in a pet shop.
□ Personality: In a nutshell, Tsutomu is a meek and humble man who hides his stress behind a timid smile. Tsutomu grew up in a society where humility and modesty were expected and likely mandatory. Growing up half of his life with only his mother, he learned many of his accepted behaviors and traits from her. Since his mother was very quiet and kind, Tsutomu grew up in a mostly calm and peaceful household. Since then, he has shown modesty and humility as he went on in life. Though he did learn how to behave on the outside, he certainly wasn't restrained on what he was allowed to think or believe on the inside. Even for such a quiet man like Tsutomu, he had opinions on things that he always kept to himself. Conformity was a big thing and he didn't want to stand out.
Tsutomu tries hard to keep a neat appearance in public. You will almost never catch him with messy hair, sagging pants, dirty or wrinkled clothes, and other things considered messy and slobby. Not just appearance, but behavior and manners as well. He rarely raises his voice in front of others unless necessary, and almost never tries to cause a scene. Underneath that shy exterior, however, is a stressed out post-graduate student struggling his way into college. Inside his mind is someone more honest about the things around him, and with his life. Following his shy nature, he tends to avoid interaction with others when necessary. Not to say he is a completely asocial man, but he does have a difficult time relating to others. Because of this, he often quietly judges them in his own view. Specifically, he would think of how rude someone is being without thinking that they might have had a bad day, or how unclean someone is without thinking that they were in a hurry to get out of the house.
Getting deeper into that, a few things could explain why he's rather shy and distant when it comes to interacting with others. After the divorce he experienced, Tsutomu had blamed himself for it. Because of this, he is somewhat afraid to form new relationships. He always fears that he'll somehow disappoint his new friends, and in the end they will leave him, just like his father did. Overall, he somehow has formed trust issues, which again he represses by being friendly to those around him. While he does appear friendly, he also tends to be aloof while doing so since he normally doesn't interact much with others. He is courteous and kind to everyone he does get the chance to interact with, but he tries to keep it at small talk and acquaintance level.
Be that as it may, there will be a few times at some point in his life where he does befriend someone. He'll be surprised at first at how he could ever form a relationship higher than acquaintance with someone, but as interaction with that person progresses, he'll gradually turn from distant to kind of the exact opposite. He'll grow protective and maybe even clingy towards his new friends. Since the divorce in his past happened so suddenly, without any knowledge prior to the event, Tsutomu blames himself and feels paranoid that he'll one day do something that will anger his friends and cause them to leave him abruptly as well. He would be devastated if that ever happened.
Balancing work and studying, he almost never has any time for leisure activities, and when he does, he spends it caring for his dog. With the lack of a social life, he's very clumsy and awkward when it comes to social situations with new people. And when he's alone, he generally converts his stress into either being troubled and a worrywart, or easily irritated and cranky. While rare, a close friend of Tsutomu's could probably catch him in a grumpy mood, and that is only if they ever catch him somewhere private, like his house. Point being, he is good at hiding his stress and moods when out in public.
In the event someone does befriend Tsutomu, they can notice a few side quirks about himself:
Tsutomu is very intelligent. Because he's aspiring to be the CEO of his own company, Tsutomu works hard to gain the necessary knowledge. Though he may be more naive than wise, he is certainly very knowledgeable about academic studies. He will share some trivia on occasion during a conversation. Expanding more on this, it's very easy to say he is a nerd.
He's not just a nerd in the academics area. Besides schoolwork, Tsutomu also plays games on his computer in his spare time. He owns a few video games and PC visual novels. He also plays on an MMORPG every once in a while. He does fantasize about a lot of video game heroes.
He is highly interested in anything to do with Japanese history. From the Heian era to the Sengoku era, his eyes go wide at the sight of an artifact from earlier time periods. Japanese history was his best grade in high school.
He is a neat freak. He believes that cleanliness is an important quality when it comes to good impression. Possibly a trait picked up from his mom, Tsutomu's apartment is kept neat and tidy. He'll get a bit turned off if he sees a messy room. Not just locations, but people, too. He works hard to keep himself clean and trim. It's almost impossible to catch him with a messy head of hair, or tattered/dirty clothes.
He is actually very sexual once you get to know him. Especially around types he finds ideal and appealing. He'll be willing to have sex as long as he and his partner are somewhere private. He tries to keep this sexual side of him hidden, especially in public. People caught making a move on him will be asked to stop. And if they are persistent, they'll be asked to take him somewhere private and continue.
As it is common for Japanese citizens, Tsutomu respects people more who are older than him. While he isn't rude to those younger, he may look down on them as inferior, therefore will be more stern to them if they disrespect him.
□ Age: 20
□ Gender: Male
□ Appearance: Tsutomu is a bit above the average height for a Japanese man, at 5'8". Though tempted to slouch, Tsutomu stands up straight everyday, for he is big about public appearance. His hair is dry and frizzy, thanks to the cheap shampoo he uses, and a bit spiky. But Tsutomu tries his hardest to keep it as neat as possible. His eyes are almond shaped, and his irises are so dark brown, they're almost black. Under his eyes are some faint, dark circles. He has a somewhat scrawny, but not unhealthy build. He doesn't exercise, but he does walk from place to place. His regular walking is what keeps him from getting out of shape, but his skinny build comes from the fact that he's not very strong, and he doesn't eat a balanced diet.
□ Abilities/Powers: Tsutomu has no talents that exceed human abilities.
Tsutomu's strength is his hands and arms. They're very reflexive and he can learn any hand-related job quickly. He's skilled with calligraphy, guitar-playing, and video games that require good reflexes. He could even give a satisfying handjob, if he was ever given the opportunity.
□ Personal Items:
1. His pet - An akita that was the runt of his litter, therefore smaller than the average akita. His name is Renji and he's a very mischievous pup who will appear to be obedient at first, but can rebel the instant he sees another living being.
2. Guitar - Tsutomu would rather not see it, but it somehow came with him. He's probably going to keep it in his closet for most of the time. But perhaps one day...he might play it again.
3-5. A couple of outfits.
6. His favorite bara manga book.
7. Dog food - A dog can't live without it!
8. Flea shampoo - Just in case Renji rolls around where he shouldn't
9. Doggie treats - To get that mutt under control
10. Yukata - An old men's yukata with a rather feminine design. Muted red with lotus flowers. It belonged to an ancestor and has been a valuable possession ever since. In good shape, for Tsutomu, his grandfather, and great grandfather have taken good care of it.
